Standards or no standards?

I believe that teachers SHOULD be forced to follow standards mandated by the state, district, and school because it gives them guidelines.  Without guidelines I believe that school systems would be an absolute disaster because teachers would be allowed to teach however they want.  With that said, I believe that these standards should not be so strict that it inhibits teachers from being free to do whatever they want.  Some teachers are extremely effective no matter how they teach, and it is teachers like those that should be allowed to teach on their own without standards.  I also feel as if some teachers would abuse that privilege and simply not teach as well as they would with implemented standards, which in the long run, would negatively impact the students.  In conclusion, I believe that there should be implemented standards, but not ones that are impossible for teachers to keep up with.  Teachers should have the leisure of teaching students and not having to constantly worry about the rules that are hanging over their heads.
